How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • You contacted us via our Volunteer online form.
  • You contacted us via our Contact online form
  • You contacted us by email or via social media, regarding the charity and its project/activities.

The personal information we collect will be used by our trustees and staff in order to keep you inform about our development and activities as well as the charity vacancies and event.

We may use your personal information to:

  • Contact you about our work and how you can support The Cumbrae WAVE.
  • Invite you to participate in events, surveys or research.

We will never sell or share your personal information with external organisations for marketing purposes.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information is your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting info@thecumbraewave.org.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored in Gmail, GoogleDrive and Klaviyo.

While we retain this data, we will protect it within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. That said, we advise that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and cannot guarantee absolute data security.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to be informed about how your data is collected and used and we will only collect data with your consent.

You are entitled to know what data we collect about you, and how it is processed.

You are entitled to correct and update any personal information about you, and to request this information be deleted.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

Occasionally we take photographs or film at The Cumbrae WAVE events for marketing purposes and to spread word about our work.

It is important to us to respect individuals’ wishes and we will let attendees know if there will be any photography or filming taking place on the day.

We will also let people know how photos/videos will be used, and if they will be shared with others.
